FORDHAM RE-RECORDS HAPPY EVER AFTER FOR TSUNAMI VICTIMS
Pregnant British singer JULIA FORDHAM has re-recorded her 1988 hit HAPPY EVER AFTER with a children's choir to raise funds for the victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami. The LOVE MOVES (IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS) hitmaker teamed up with an old school pal, who is now a teacher, to rework her original lyrics for the charity single. She says, "The former African chant (on the record) is translated into spine-tingling Malaysian/Indonesian, which the children recorded at a local studio. "I cried like a baby when I first heard the kids singing the new middle section." The kids on the record are those taught by Fordham's old friend, CAROLINE JAMES. All proceeds from sales of the record will go directly towards rebuilding the Panchayat (corr) Elementary Union School in the Tamil Nadu region of southern India. The building and village was totally destroyed by the tsunami on 26 December (04), and 13 pupils were killed. The new CD also features new tracks the California-based singer recorded with Indian Bollywood star AADESH SHRIVASTAVA (corr).

Lyrics:
Happy Ever After
Don't ask me why I'm running out of laughter
There's tears in these eyes, not happy ever after
And I thought it was plain to see
And I thought the whole world could be
And I thought we'd be happy ever after.
You could say that I'm living in a pipe dream
It's just looking back, things are never what they seem
And I hope I can safely say
And I hope most things go my way
And I hope they'll be happy ever after.
Down in Southern Africa no happy ever after
Not now, but soon forever
While they're sitting comfortably
In that white winter city
How can we be happy ever after?
Um by yay
Est ce le South Africa
So don't ask me why I'm running out of laughter
There's tears in these eyes, not happy ever after.
And I thought it was plain to see
And I thought that maybe you and me
And I thought we'd be happy ever after.
Um by yay
Um by yay
Um by yay
Est ce le South Africa
